Before Sara Campos-Silvius (writer, director, performer) and I made The Inner Ring together our first collaboration was on an experimental project of mine. I entered the Film and Video Arts Society’s Super 8mm Challenge: you receive one roll of B&W Super 8mm film and have one shot to make something out of it. Participants shoot one roll of film (approximate 3-4 minutes), it gets sent off to the lab for processing, and then it is revealed at the annual FAVA Summer Party. Is your film properly exposed? Did your in-camera edit turn out? It’s a surprise for all.
That was in 2016.
Years later, in 2020, when many festivals and arts programming went online Sara adapted her poetry to be a visual experience as well as an auditory one. It was the perfect opportunity for her to reuse the footage we shot together. Now, The Spectre, is the result. Enjoy.
